Move Schedule

Schedule will be updated daily during the move. This is a summary of the major setps we will take in the next two weeks, broken down by Product.

Mail service will stay up while we move. There may be a short period of time when you cannot login through the normal interface, however we will provide alternative access so you will be able to use Webmail throughout the move.

  • Setup new servers
  • Configure Registration Access

It is our intention to keep member sites up throughout the move without outage. We will backup and begin to serve member sites from the new data center prior to moving any of the old servers. During the actual move, the ability to sign into the control panel will be removed and you will be unable to edit your site. We will do everything possible to make that time period the shortest possible.

  • Setup new site storage at data center
  • Backup member data to data center
  • Point member sites at new data center
  • Turn off ability to edit member sites (1-2 days)
  • Move control panel servers

  • Turn on ability to edit

We will continue to serve DNS for customer domains throughout the move, however during the actual physical move the ability to edit DNS, manage domains and purchase new domains will be unavailable. We will do everything possible to make that time period the shortest possible.

We anticipate an overnight outage on the site. There will be notice posted on the site prior to the move and a status page will be displayed one which we can update with our anticipated time of completion.

Email Communication

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why are you moving data centers and upsetting my service?

A: We are moving to allow us to provide better service in the future. Particularly, we have a major upgrade to Tripod/Angelfire coming soon that necessitates the change.

Q: Do I need to do anything?

A: Not really. However for our web hosting customers, it's always a good idea to backup your site if you have FTP access.

Q: Did you say something new for Tripod and Angelfire?

A: Yes. New, and very interesting.

Q: How will I know when this is done?

A: It is our goal to provide information on this project here. We will also update our Facebook and Twitter to a much lesser degree.

Q: I really don't want to get anymore emails about this. How do I make it stop?

A: Click the unsubscribe link the the last email you got and follow the instructions. We don't want to send you email if you don't want to get it. Really...

Q: My domain is critical to me...I need my DNS to stay up.

A: We will not move our DNS servers until we have a new working DNS server in place to take the traffic.
